At a recent special Leadership meeting of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization, Jonathan J. Judge, President of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club announced his candidacy for City Council in the 44th Councilmanic District in the upcoming Special Election.

"My neighbors and I have been deeply concerned about the direction
in which our city and community is heading. Too many of our
representatives in City Hall have stopped listening to the people on
many key issues. These tough times require constant vigilance and
someone who knows how city government works to keep our district
running at its best for everyone. It is time for a true public servant
to step up for the people of our district. My experience working in
government and with our diverse community over the better part of the
last decade would be a tremendous asset to our community as our City
Council Member. Therefore, after much consideration and many kind
phone calls and emails, I have decided to seek election to the New
York
City Council in the 44th District. "

The announcement was favorably received by those attending the meeting. In addition to Brooklyn Young Republican President, Jonathan J Judge has been very active in political and community activities, such as the Bay Ridge Community Council, the New York State Young Republican, and other civic groups.

The leadership of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization is confident that Mr. Judge's previous involvement and dedication will remain true to the principles and philosophy of the Republican Party.

With the approach of the Thanksgiving Holiday, the members of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization, with offices located at 8024 17th Avenue, collected food for the less fortunate people of our community. The food was donated to the Reaching Out Community Services Inc. Food Pantry Program, located at 7708 New Utrecht Avenue, Brooklyn N.Y. 11214, which will be distributed by the hard-working volunteers of the organization.

Under the guidance of Tom Neve, Reaching Out Inc. provides much needed services for low-income individuals and families in our area. Reaching Out Inc. operates a Supermarket Style Food Pantry, and helps its clients to file for food stamps, social security and housing. They supply a clothing room for those who are in need of clothing. Reaching Out also provides classes on Nutrition, Free Income Tax Assistance, Summer Tutoring Classes, Operation Gobbler, as well as the Operation Christmas Smiles program and more.

“This non-profit, charitable, community service organization deserves the support and assistance of all community members and all elected officials regardless of their Party affiliation." stated Lucretia Regina-Potter, Republican District Leader of the 49th Assembly District. "Hunger is an evil on society that applies to all its members, independently of their political or ideological beliefs," she continued. "During my visit at the headquarters of Reaching Out Inc., I was pleased to see the dedication of the many volunteers who were assisting the people who were lining up to receive much needed food for Thanksgiving."

To say that the Bay Ridge GOP Health Care Rally was uneventful and unsuccessful it is an understatement. The event held at John Paul Jones Park, a favorite and ubiquitous meeting location for the Bay Ridge GOP, also going under the guise of the Brooklyn Republican Party, was downright embarrassing, demeaning and even detrimental.

It is embarrassing because the speakers at the "Rally" did not convey any new reasons why people should reject the Obama Health Care Plan, demeaning because the organizers claimed to have emailed 20,000 notices and only about 40 people turned up at a rally that should have attracted hundreds, if not thousands of participants. The rally was also detrimental because not many people would be willing to associate themselves with a Party that does not even know how to organize a rally. I personally feel sorry for the High School student and Dr. Caruana who were used to create credibility for a D. O. A. event that changed and accomplished nothing other that adding insult to injury to our beloved Republican Party.

One question that comes to my mind is where were the 42 Republican District Leaders and the many appointed members of the "Executive Committee,” not to mention the thousands of members of the Brooklyn Republican County Committee?

Perhaps they knew enough to stay away.....

At a recent meeting of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization in Brooklyn N.Y., Mr. Joseph Hayon, a Brooklyn Young Republican, received a Certificate of Appreciation. This certificate was presented to Mr. Hayon by the leadership of the organization:

"for joining with the Brooklyn Young Republicans attending the Kings County Republican Party Convention of September 30, 2009, in support of the efforts of our organization for a leadership change. His inspirational, exemplary, and remarkable conduct under extremely hostile environment goes beyond the call of duty and is a true example of dedication and loyalty to our organization and leadership."

The recent Kings County Republican Party Convention, held on September 30, 2009, proved once more that the beleaguered Republican Party in Brooklyn is still divided and without guidance. The "egregious miscounting of votes", and the direct threat to the 49th Assembly District by Mr. Eaton and company, with his disrespect  for those who dared to challenge him, displayed at the Convention, are very strong indications that as long as he is at the helm of the Republican Party in Brooklyn, there will be no peace and unity.

His 880 proxies collected throughout the entire borough by the leaders of 19 Assembly District are certainly not impressive when one considers that the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization which operates only out the 49th Assembly District was able to collect over 340 proxies within 5 days!

Certainly, the suggestion that came from the floor to put Mr. Eaton on "probation" was one of the highlights of the Convention!

It was however, kind of disturbing and downright disappointing for many Republicans to witness the active participation of State Senator Marty Golden in support of Craig Eaton by collecting proxies in his own name and turning them over to his chosen candidate for Chairman. In a show of unity, and leadership, Senator Golden should have remained neutral and should have limited his appearance at the convention to the role of the only Republican elected official in Brooklyn. His message should have been what he stated at the opening of the convention-"...support for our Republican candidates."

As usual these candidates are facing isolation and neglect from the Republican Party in Brooklyn. We have not seen any cooperation and support from Mayor Bloomberg towards our Brooklyn candidates for public office. Shouldn't any one who receives a Wilson-Pakula have an obligation to recognize and support the candidates of the bestowing Party?

Mr. Eaton fails to mention that for the first time ever during his watch, a Republican candidate for President did not win in his home district of Bay Ridge, when instead John McCain was given the victory in the 49th Assembly District due to the 30% of the votes that the Republican candidate for the Assembly, Lucretia Regina-Potter, received. It is for certain that McCain would not have won the 49th AD without Regina-Potter's votes. His criticism of former Assemblyman Arnaldo A. Ferraro, during the Convention, and his disregard for the fact that Arnaldo A. Ferraro was the last Republican Assemblyman in Brooklyn, proves his lack of respect for the experience, knowledge, dedication, and loyalty that Arnaldo A Ferraro brings to the Republican Party in Brooklyn. All qualities that Mr. Eaton does not possess.

For the record, before the convention the "olive branch" was offered for the benefit and good of the Republican Party by the leadership of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization, but Mr. Eaton refused to accept that peaceful gesture in an adamant position of hostility and divisive tactics.

ARNALDO FERRARO FOR BROOKLYN REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN

RESPECT-RENEWAL-RESULTS

                                                9/25/09

At a recent meeting of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization, Brooklyn, N.Y., Arnaldo A. Ferraro, founder and Executive Chairman of the organization announced that he has decided to run for Chairman of the Kings County Republican County Committee.

“As the former and last Republican Assemblyman in Brooklyn, I have decided to run for the Party position of Chairman of the Kings County Republican County Committee. As the former Vice-Chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party, I have worked with several County Chairmen, except the current one, Craig Eaton, who has chosen to keep me out of the activities of the Brooklyn Republican Party. I have had 40 years of active participation in the political affairs of our borough. The most relevant instances of my participation in affairs of our party are as follows: In 1984, when Chairman Fred Panteleone chose me and targeted my Assembly race in the 49AD against an incumbent Democratic Assemblyman. I won that for our Party. In 1993, I was asked by the late Arthur Bramwell to run against the 49 AD District Leader, Robert DiCarlo, who was also the County Chairman. I defeated DiCarlo who went on to be removed from his Chairmanship of the Party. Subsequently, when Arthur Bramwell resigned, I supported Hy Singer in his fight to become County Chairman.

I can safely tell you that this is the worst our Party has ever been. Despite this, current Chairman Craig Eaton continues to push people like me, and so many of you, out of the Brooklyn Republican Party! And we continue to lose….

Now, I need your help and support in order to rescue our beleaguered Party and restore it to its glory days when the duly elected District Leaders had an impact in setting its goals and policy and were recognized as the true pillars and champions of the Republican Party.

Thank you for your help and support!

THE FIORELLO LAGUARDIA REPUBLICAN ORGANIZATION IS ONCE MORE CLAIMING VICTORY OVER THE CHALLENGE TO ITS LEADERSHIP IN THE 49TH AD. THE CHALLENGERS WERE UNABLE TO COLLECT THE MINIMUM REQUIRED SIGNATURES TO QUALIFY THEMSELVES AS CANDIDATES, AND EMBARRASSED THEMSELVES BY NOT EVEN SUBMITTING THE INADEQUATE AMOUNT OF SIGNATURES THAT THEY HAD COLLECTED. THIS IS ANOTHER DEMONSTRATION OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL AND POLITICAL STRENGTH OF OUR CLUB. THE RECOGNITION GOES TO THE LEADERSHIP, MEMBERS, FRIENDS, AND SUPPORTERS WHO WERE ABLE TO COLLECT 1085 SIGNATURES IN ONE ASSEMBLY DISTRICT! A TOTAL THAT IS UNPRECEDENTED AND UNHEARD OF IN BROOKLYN. THE CLUB WILL SHOW ITS GRATITUDE TO THOSE MEMBERS, FRIENDS, AND SUPPORTERS WHO COLLECTED SIGNATURES AT SPECIAL, INVITATION ONLY BREAKFAST TO BE HELD ON JULY 30TH, 2009.

WE ARE SO PROUD AND HONORED THAT THE 49TH AD IS STILL THE HEART OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IN BROOKLYN!!
